The work of an Associate can be both qualitative and quantitative in nature, ranging from industry and subject-matter research to the preparation of detailed empirical and written analysis. Our Associates are encouraged to develop broad experience across a wide range of projects.
Associates have an important role in our work. Their responsibilities include:
- Performing research and analysis and communicating results effectively
- Collaborating with team members to explain complex concepts and analyses in a persuasive manner in reports, presentations and discussions with clients

Your professional development
The core of your professional development at BRG will be on the job training, where you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues and leading experts in their fields. On the job training is supported by a programme of formal internal and external professional training.
BRG offers a structured professional development programme which encourages graduates to develop broad-based expertise, providing a platform for you to become more specialised as your career progresses. You will be sponsored and supported by BRG in all your professional studies. Prior knowledge of economics or finance is not required.
Throughout your first three years at BRG, you will gain exposure to projects across our core practice areas. Alongside this wide project exposure, Associates pursue one of two study pathways:
- the valuation and damagespathway, which ultimately leads to studying for the ACA, an internationally respected chartered accountancy qualification
- the competition economics pathway, which ultimately leads to studying part-time for a master’s degree in economics from a leading London-based institution
In your first year, you will complete two, short professional qualifications which represent the first stepping stone on both of our pathways. These qualifications allow you to develop broad expertise without being required to specialise immediately:
- the ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB), and
- a postgraduate qualification in competition economics
In your second and third years you can either:
- continue studying for the ACA, which follows from the CFAB, or
- build on your postgraduate qualification by studying for a master’s degree in economics
Candidates already holding relevant postgraduate academic or professional qualifications (e.g. a master’s degree in economics) may be considered for a fast-track entry scheme, at BRG’s discretion.
As part of your onboarding, we provide a comprehensive internal training schedule to help you develop the key skills required to excel in your new role. You will also be assigned a ‘buddy’ prior to joining who will support you throughout your induction and professional journey at BRG.
What we are looking for
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- An outstanding academic record, including a first- or upper-second-class bachelor’s degree in any subject
- A desire to apply problem-solving skills to complex issues
- A high level of enthusiasm and proactivity to develop and learn new skills
- Collaborative working skills, as we often work in small, focused teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong quantitative ability
- A strong attention to detail
- The ability to produce high-quality work under time-sensitive conditions
- A willingness to take ownership of work
Testimonials
“Since joining BRG as an Associate in 2020 after completing my master’s in economics at LSE, I’ve had the rewarding opportunity to apply my economics studies to real-world challenges in competition matters and commercial disputes, ranging from valuing gas fields in Indonesia to excessive pricing in the UK pharmaceuticals industry. BRG’s rapid growth has been impressive, and I’m excited to be part of a firm that continues to expand rapidly across Europe.”
—Aman Chatterjee, Consultant
"Coming from a background in politics, I was unsure about how transferrable my experience and knowledge would be to my role at BRG. However, I've found the work to be accessible and engaging, and I’ve made extensive use of my communication, research and critical-thinking skills that I developed in my degree. I’m about to complete my ACA qualification, which is not only a fantastic credential to add to a CV, but has also been a platform to boost my career development at BRG. This is a great place for anyone looking to build a rewarding and intellectually challenging career."
—Zarya Oh, Senior Associate
“Outside of project work, one aspect which I especially value about BRG is the ample opportunity to explore areas of personal interest, be it getting involved with the BRG community by running initiatives and social events, or contributing to the wider business through networking. This has allowed me to have a dynamic and fulfilling work life which has facilitated my personal growth as a professional."
—Stuart Banks, Senior Associate
