About the team
The Commercial Team is responsible for all commercial revenue generating activities and portfolios at the Airport (Retail, Parking, Ground Transport and Hotels, Property and Development). The team’s remit covers all aspects associated with managing and growing commercial activities and revenues.
The team responsible for strategic, commercial development planning to meet future passenger demand and grow the airport as a sustainable business. The team works with internal and external partners and stakeholders to grow products and services, continually improving and innovating to respond to passenger demands and expectations.
The Commercial Strategy, Development and Programs Team is responsible for working with portfolio owners to set, monitor and evaluate commercial strategies – ensuring the team achieves strategic targets in a timely manner. The team is responsible for providing advice, analysis and research to inform the strategic direction across key commercial programs and initiatives, working to present complex data and insights to inform investment cases and bring stakeholders along the journey.
About the role
This role is a 12-month fixed term contract supporting the delivery of a significant Commercial opportunity through applying your management consulting toolkit. This fixed term contract requires an experienced management consultant to support a strategic opportunity at SYD.
The Commercial Strategy Analyst is responsible for providing analytical, modelling and research that informs the delivery of key commercial strategies and initiatives. The Commercial Strategy Analyst will support the commercial portfolio by:
- Developing an in-depth understanding of our business and external market forces
- Developing models, analysis, presentations and research to inform investment cases
- Managing and contributing to strategic projects utilising problem-solving frameworks
- Building and nurturing strong advisory relationships with key external and internal senior stakeholders including influencing executives
- Defining problems and strategic solutions by scoping, analysing, preparing and presenting to key internal and external stakeholders
- Conducting strategic research
- Identifying issues, developing hypotheses and communicating insights and recommendations to key decision makers
- Providing active guidance to team members in the course of key strategic projects
- The role involves providing strategic insights, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of innovation.
About you
We are seeking a candidate with an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, preferably aviation, finance, or legal, and ideally a master's degree or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have between 3-5 years management consulting experience within a top tier consulting firm. They should possess strong analytical capability, strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, with significant experience market sizing, ideally within consumer sector or similar.
The role requires a proven track record of engaging with senior stakeholders, including board members and shareholders, and making informed recommendations. Professional demeanour, articulate communication, and an analytical mindset with attention to detail are crucial.
The ideal candidate will thrive in high-pressure environments, remain composed under tight deadlines, and inspire teams with strategic vision and integrity. High standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct are expected, along with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
