Practice Overview
Private Capital is a specialized capability within the Oliver Wyman consulting business. We help our clients achieve outstanding results, both on deals and post-transaction. We serve private equity firms and their portfolio companies with a focus on delivering a differentiated return on investment across the investment cycle. We also support Corporations with mergers and acquisitions by providing value through all transaction stages: opportunity identification and valuation, project management office (PMO), negotiation support, and sale process management. Our team works across various industry sectors, including Infrastructure, Financial Services, Telco, Transportation, Consumer, Technology, Business Services, and many others.
What you will do
As an Engagement Manager, you will be a key leader who guides our team through collaborative problem-solving processes, from initial brainstorming to final solutions. You will ensure that our recommendations are practical, relevant, and cohesive. This role requires strategic thought leadership and a strong grasp of technical and operational details. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships are essential.
Leading the execution of project modules, including developing hypotheses, managing data collection, creating models, conducting research, and uncovering insights.
Collaborating with our Partner group to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
Building and nurturing executive client relationships, presenting to diverse audiences, and working closely with clients and other stakeholders.
Mentoring and developing the skills of junior consulting staff.
What you will bring
A minimum of 6-7 years of experience, ideally with a well-regarded strategy consulting firm or in team-oriented, project-based environments.
Experience in guiding and supporting teams or work streams to achieve goals within set timelines.
Strong background in strategic problem-solving with demonstrable analytical skills.
Strong communication skills and confident in sharing ideas with senior executives
Undergraduate and/or advanced degree from a top academic program
Willingness to travel
Native level Japanese, business-fluent English
